Great little sound machine with various options
I have bought this same machine several times over the years for my kids. They don’t last forever; after a several years, the power knob starts to get worn out and the machine will cut out and you have to mess with the knob until you get it just right and it may or may not cut out again during the night. For the cost of it, that really doesn’t bother me because it’s worth it. Only my youngest, who is 9, still likes to use it at night. He’s had one in his room since he was a baby and always keeps it on the brook setting. The new one I just got looks the same, but has been updated…the shape is just slightly different than the last one I bought six years ago, and the power cord from the previous one doesn’t fit the new one, which is totally fine. The sounds are even more crisp and clear than before, which is really nice. This really is a great little machine.

Great sound machine
This thing is light weight, loud, and easy to use. It is super simple to travel with and pack and I like that there are several different sound options. It works well for a large room as the volume can be turned up way more than you will ever need. The light on it is pretty bright at night but we just put a sock over it. 10/10

Love this machine ! I have it on all day long. The sounds are clear and soothing. I travel with mine as it is small and lightweight. Batteries last a long time. Very easy to use. The small light does not disturb your sleep.

I bought this as I didn’t want to use my echo to play sleep sounds at night anymore. It feels very light, and somewhat cheap, it hasn’t broken after falling off my nightstand several times! I have been using it for some time now, and it has been working for me.Using this device is fairly easy: You turn it on, select if you wish to have a timer to turn it off, and what sound you wish to listen. As to sound, it varies somewhat depending on what you want to listen to, but the speakers appear to be more low level, as sound is not as crisp as it could be. That said, it works, at least for me. When I use this device, it helps me fall to sleep quicker than without using it. I usually have it turned on all night, without using the timer.The timer, is one of my biggest issues with this device. While I have not used it, I wish it would have more than 1 hour sleep timer. I would prefer 2-4 hours maximum, as sometimes it can take me longer to sleep, or I wake up quite a bit, and hearing sleep sounds helps put me back to sleep.I do like that it has a battery powered option. It helps if you want to use this while camping, traveling, etc. I have not used it while it was on battery powered, so I cannot say how long the batteries will last.If you are looking for a device that is cheap and works, this fits the bill!

I love it! I need to have some background sound while I sleep. I get agitated with political talk, sports related whining, and energetic music. This is very relaxing. I will say that the brook setting is annoying in that it seems too regular and predictable but the others are good. Oh, and the on/off button is awkward as it seems too short.

Miracle worker! Can use without the timer feature!
My mom has had bad insomnia for several years, more noticeably in the past year as she recovered from knee surgery that left her in a lot of pain even after her knee had “healed”. She tried everything for sleep: melatonin, Ambien, a 1/2 glass of wine, herbal remedies, diets, low/no sugar, the list goes on and on. She already was eating healthy and exercising as much as could be expected, but she could not sleep. I got her DVDs and CDs from the library and she hated them all. Then I thought of this on 1/13/13, and now she sleeps!!!!!!She doesn’t have that blissful perfect sleep that she wants, but now she dozes off and wakes up more rested – without medication for sleep! We’ve had this for 5 days and the change is definitely noticeable!The sounds are as listed: ocean, summer night, rain, thunder, white noise and brook.”Ocean” is perfect, the dogs think the beach is in the bedroom and you think a surfer will walk in at any moment!”Summer Night” has cricket noises and sounds like riding Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland (without the music)”Rain” is by far the most relaxing.The “Thunder” one is odd as you would think thunder is a scary noise for some, but hey if it works for you use it!”White Noise” sounds just like a fan, a kind of noisy fan, but a fan.”Brook” sounds bubbly and is my least favorite… it sounds like a brook but also like a faucet running.My mom listens to this very loud for some reason – I can hear it 2 rooms away – but she can sleep with it like that. I come in and turn it down when I go by her room and she doesn’t wake up. The sound is unobtrusive even when it is loud, and when I do hear it I am usually reading or something and it is pretty comforting.The audio does not sound tinny at all and is very realistic. I was surprised at the sound quality especially when she had it turned up so loud, but it was very good.I bought this model because it specifically did not have the heartbeat sound – maybe good for kids who have not read Edgar Allan Poe, but not for us!Note: This one can play ALL NIGHT LONG!! I was afraid the timer feature was the only way to use it as with some other brands/models, but you just turn this on and let it run as long as you want. Thanks to the other reviewer who mentioned that feature.The unit is very lightweight and I can see how it can be very portable for trips. Not sure how long the batteries would last, so will probably use it with the adapter whenever we can. It is so lightweight, I do think that if you dropped it, it would probably break or crack, so be careful with it.Definitely worth the money!

It’s a very basic product and would not cost much to make. Considering the retail price, the markup is very very high. But it gets the job done nevertheless. I am married and have a snoring problem. During summers, the noise from air conditioning and ceiling fan sort of masks my snoring noise and my wife does not have much trouble staying asleep while I snore. But during winters, it becomes very difficult for her because our room is very very quiet. When I first heard about a white noise machine, the first thought that came to my mind was that this is something that might help my wife stay asleep while I snore during winters. I have been using this product for a month now and it has definitely helped a lot.

Me encanta! Yo tuve uno por muchos años y se me descompuso apenas ahora, así que pedí este nuevo. Me gustó que ya no trae el sonido delnlatido cardiaco, era lindo pero estresaba un poco jajaja, ahora trae los sonidos naturales más tranquilizadores y los que me encantan! Puedes usarlo con pilas o conectarlo a la luz y tiene temporizador, el volumen es suficiente para sonorizar todo mi departamento y para dormir es lo mejor! También lo iso para meditar e incluso para trabajar y concentrarme. Homedics es garantía. Lo super recomiendo!
