𝐂𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐋 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐗𝐓: Any 1500-watt heater outputs 5,120 BTU/hr of heat. Whether it’s an oil-filled radiator, a fan-forced heater like this one, or an infrared glowing heater, if it draws 1500 watts of power from the wall, it outputs 1500 watts of heat. Physics doesn’t care about marketing claims.That said, not all 1500W-rated heaters actually draw 1500 watts. In steady-state operation, many “1500W” heaters settle between 1200 and 1400 watts. That’s a solid 20% variance in heat output for heaters claiming the same power consumption.Different heater types also have different characteristics that affect the subjective perception of their performance—some produce hotter air, some heat objects via IR rather than heating the air—and people have preferences based on those differences.But the fundamental equation is watts in = watts out. What separates cheap heaters from expensive ones is noise, thermostat accuracy, build quality, and features.On those metrics, this heater performs exactly as its price suggests.𝐍𝐎𝐈𝐒𝐄: About 53dB measured approximately 18 inches from the outlet. This isn’t extremely loud, but it’s not silent—comparable to normal conversation volume or a loud dishwasher. The subjective quality is reasonable, though; it fades into white noise rather than being an unpleasant drone. Doesn’t disrupt my sleep, but it’s definitely noticeable when running.𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐔𝐀𝐋 𝐏𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐑 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐏𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍: After allowing the heater to reach steady-state operation, I measured 1,400W on high, 910W on medium, and 640W on low (the fan accounts for about 13W). Like many space heaters, this uses PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) heating elements, which draw less power as they heat up—a safety feature preventing thermal runaway. Thus, power consumption decreases as the unit warms up and varies somewhat depending on room temperature.𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐌𝐎𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐓 𝐈𝐒 𝐆𝐀𝐑𝐁𝐀𝐆𝐄: I mean bad bad. It heat-soaks from the heating element, leading to long cycle times because it takes forever to cool down and can’t accurately measure room temperature. I’d estimate roughly an 8°F range around the setpoint, which is unacceptable. Expect constant fiddling.𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐒:• Another reviewer noted the grill gets very hot. Yes, it does. Probably not unusually so relative to other compact heaters with metal grills, but hot enough that I would consider it to be a hazard around kids. There are better heater styles if that’s a concern, but none as inexpensive as this one.• The power cord comes with a plastic baggie taped around the plug. I don’t see any obvious reason for this and it’s kind of a pain to remove.• Based on external appearance, identical operation, and shared ETL number 3068797, this unit appears to be the same as one sold under the Mainstays brand, though those are made in Vietnam while the Emerson is made in China.𝐁𝐎𝐓𝐓𝐎𝐌 𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐄: This is a very inexpensive heater that performs like a very inexpensive heater. It’s usable out of the box if you can tolerate constant thermostat fiddling and some noise. Paired with an appropriate external digital controller, it heats just as well as more expensive heaters while being far more accurate.1.5 stars off for the built-in thermostat, but recommended as a good value.

Big problems with this heater
All i wanted was a simple on off with minimal settings, which this heater has. BUT it is so sensitive to the tip over function, that if I touch it, it goes off. And getting it back on is almost impossible.

THIS HEATER DESERVES 10 STARS Takes the chill out of our north facing 2nd floor bedroom in a flash, even when the temps have been below zero all day. We set it on the upstairs bath floor in the morning for 10 min facing the walk-in shower,unplug it and enjoy a warm tile floor.
