Faulty Device Horrible Warranty
If I could give negative one star, I would. I upgraded to this Nest Thermostat after using my previous Nest for seven years without any issues. Unfortunately, this newer model has been nothing but trouble after just five months. The battery repeatedly dies and it constantly disconnects from WiFi, despite having a C-wire installed. I never experienced any of these problems with my old unit.I contacted support and was told to charge it for 3–4 hours, which I did, but two days later the thermostat died again. When I reached out a second time, I was given two replacement options: (1) place a $266 hold on my card while they send a replacement and refund it after receiving the old unit, or (2) send mine in first and be without a thermostat in the meantime. I chose the first option, but the hold amount is nearly $100 more than what I paid on Amazon ($179). On top of that, the replacement they send is refurbished, not new.It’s extremely disappointing to pay for a new device, have it fail within months, and then receive a refurbished replacement while also being asked to front more money than the original purchase price. If I were still within the return window, I would absolutely switch brands.

The nest thermostat battery just kept dying. I even wired a power source for continuous charge to no avail. I bought a replacement battery off Amazon and it just didn’t work. I don’t recommend changing it yourself as it’s very easy to damage. After trying different things, I ended up purchasing this new base hoping it would work. After setting it up with the system details, it worked! Plug and play! Got the app working as well! What a relief! Highly recommend if your nest 3rd generation thermostat battery gives out.
