A Solid Fan, Not an AC Unit
To begin with, no fan is a substitute of an AC system, those that use one need to understand thermodynamics, AC units remove the heat from the room and have super-cooling methods that wouldn’t be used in a fan. To get air OUT of a room, you need an exit, an open door, window, etc.I use mine in support of our AC unit, which is all the way in the living room (and struggles to reach my room). Fans are mainly intended to keep the air circulating, but by doing so also slightly (but noticeably in enclosed environments, far more than in open) increase the temperature as a byproduct. However, fans do make it more bearable, and make a significant difference when centered onto the person in question. It’s a rather quiet, and tall fan, as opposed to the arguably much stronger, less efficient, and louder box fan that I used to have. This fan does rotate, has multiple settings including ones (that at the lower levels) are little more than white noise, meaning it can be used to give a slight cooling sensation, without being overwhelming, while also staying just loud enough to drown out the disturbances of the night, an owl hooting at an odd hour, birds flying around, etc.Is it perfect, no, in my case my bed happens to be too tall (which I had just set up a day prior to receiving the fan) to make the full use of the fan at night, however the white noise helps with sleeping, and it still does keep a good deal of the heat off at night. I would recommend it to someone who understood what they were looking for in a fan, and what they would be getting. If you are looking for a fan, not an AC unit, this is something that I would recommend.

UPDATED! Arrived damaged, but fixed
First reviewed on August 19th, 2019: I purchased this Honeywell HYF290B tower fan for a hallway in my home. I have window air conditioners in my exercise room and living room, and I wanted to disperse the air a little more evenly as the exercise room stays cold while the hallway is noticeably warmer. I had been using a small box fan to blow air into the room to circulate cold air into the hallway, but it is very old, and I knew there had to be a better option somewhere on Amazon. Tower fans caught my eye because they oscillate, or rotate back and forth. This means it can alternate blowing air into my exercise room and down the hall, which should be great for circulation. In practice, the fan is ineffective because it doesn’t blow very hard, even on the highest setting. The name of the fan is Quietset, and in that regard, it excels. It has 8 speeds, sleep, whisper, and calm, all the way up to “Power Cool”. All of the fan modes are very quiet, but that’s because they aren’t blowing much air at all. I can hold my hand two-and-a-half feet in front of the fan and not feel it blowing on the highest setting. I moved the fan to the center of the hallway, away from the wall, to make sure it wasn’t starved for air on the intake in the back, and it still didn’t blow very much air. I set it up to test it for a few days and realized the discrepancy between the exercise room temperature and the hallway temperature was greater with this tower fan than with my old mini-box fan.I purchased this tall fan expecting a tower of air, and it simply doesn’t provide it.On the positive side, the fan seems to be well built. It has a relatively small profile, and it is very quiet. It includes a remote and 7 levels of power. The light is dimmable, so it may be useful in a bedroom just to keep the air from getting stale at night in a room with no ceiling fan. I can’t recommend it for any other application, and I wish I had saved the box to send it back. 2/5 starsUPDATE: June 30, 2020, I moved to a new home in November of 2019 and brought this fan with me. When setting it up, I noticed that the housing wasn’t secure, and one piece of the plastic was pushed in on the side (see updated photo). I didn’t know if this had occurred during the move or prior to it. I pushed it back together so that the sides were air tight and used the fan again. This time, there was a solid stream of air coming out of the front of the fan, which now meets my performance expectations. I have it 15 feet away in the living room and can feel a strong breeze on the highest setting, but it is still quiet enough that it is not annoying or distracting. The best part is that it comes with a remote control, so I was able to program it into my Logitech Harmony 650 and 660 remotes (purchased on Amazon) so I can control it across the room. I am able to see the lights on top to know what speed setting it is on. The oscillation works well. Overall, I am supremely satisfied with the fan now and highly recommend it. 5/5 stars

Good product
Happy with my purchase. It is still working six years later. Keeps room cool and is relatively quiet.

Good fan
Nice fa that really is quiet and has many options to operate it. Love that the remote has its own slot in the back so it won’t get lost. Took off one star because the base is very cheap plastic and I’m afraid it won’t last too long if accidentally dropped or banged when moving it to another room.

We love this fan so much, we now have three of them!
I’ve been through many floor standing fans (living in Phoenix) and I can tell you with certainty, this is the best at any price! Fans from Lasko, Sierra and others are too loud and fail too often. I purchased my first Honeywell floor fan at a national brick and mortar retailer many years ago and I still use it today. I have since realized I can save money and have it delivered to me by getting it here at Amazon. It is super easy to assemble (just push together two halves of the base, place the fan on top and put on and tighten the plastic ‘nut’ that holds it on the base). That’s it.You will need two AAA batteries if you want to use the included remote that has a holder on the top back side of the fan. This fan has many fan speeds, a wind option (where the speed changes randomly, more like wind), a timer and an oscillation mode. It is whisper quiet and perfect for the side of the bed or in a room where it won’t drown out conversation or the TV.Furthermore, I’ve never seen one of these go bad. Living in a dusty environment like Phoenix, fans typically don’t last too long. Dust gets in the motor, they start getting loud and then they fail. I probably had to replace 4 fans (that were much cheaper) in the same time period that I owned my Honeywell fan. Even though the Honeywell fan was more money for a single fan I had previously purchased, trust me when I say purchasing FOUR cheaper fans as they kept failing after about a year or 18 months, is way more expensive. Not to mention the time and effort involved in throwing out the old and getting and setting up another one.So, now I have three of these and I won’t buy any other floor standing fan.If anything changes, I’ll update this review.

Der Honeywell Turmventilator verfügte weder über einen deutschen Netzstecker, noch war ein CE-Kennzeichen zu finden. Erstaunlich, dass so etwas in der EU überhaupt verkauft wird.

Looks very stylish in a room, cools well and is super quiet compared to a normal fan. Can easily watch tv at normal volume and it doesn’t distract from the tv.

This was my 1st purchase of the newer style fan (older style being the caged, rotating 3-plastic-blades with base controls). I wasn’t disappointed, & subsequently bought a 2nd one. The fan does its job very well & because of the height, provides a wider area of coverage than the older style. It also lives up very well to its claim for being quiet. The Sleep mode is extremely quiet, but at a price — the airflow is so minimal that it doesn’t help much unless it’s almost right in your face. The remote is a nice addition & works well. My only real beef is with the base. It’s awkward & clunky & there’s just a TINY space at the very bottom to run the cord through. Whenever I move the unit, the base just doesn’t feel stable (it’s never come off though), & the cord seems to hate being confined to that tiny hole. That aside, though, generally I’m very happy with this fan & have no regrets for “changing over” to this style. Very good product which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
