    Works for now…
The thermostat works. I had this same model previously and it failed after about 5 years. Hopefully this thermostat (same model) lasts longer.More info about the failure of my previous device… The device still worked to activate the fan when the ac compressor was running to cool the home. But the fan wouldn’t turn on without the ac compressor. This means I couldn’t really use “fan circ” or “fan on”. Only “fan auto” worked.

    Great thermostat
AC company installed a smart thermostat when they installed my new ac… for several years my ac would not work well. Id lower temp and thermostat would go up. It was quite frustrating and costly (in my electric bill) so my new ac guys suggested changing thermostat temperature control and I chose this (recommended by them) ….. things have been wonderful since. easy to install, easy to read, temperature control is great and although you can’t schedule changes in your temperature (atleast I have not been able to figure out) it is fine with me to change it on my own.

Be sure to check the configuration settings
I got this to replace an old (16+ years) identical model that was misbehaving. I went thru all the settings to make sure it was programmed correctly before I plugged it in. There were a couple of settings I HAD to change to fit my set up. I had to search the ‘net to find what ALL the settings meant. There were more configuration settings than what came with the instructions. 🙁 It’s been working fine since plugging it in. But it’s just been in heat mode. It’ll be in cool mode in a few months. I’ll update this if something goes wrong when cooling season starts.

Good, Simple Thermostat for A/C and Forced Heat
I cant comment on any complicated heating/cooling setups but works great in our late 80’s built home with a single stage R22 A/C and central forced heat (gas). The programming options are plentiful but whats great is you can configure this thing to hide away all the complicated settings you dont need. I was able to configure the thermostat to only allow manual A/C operation which is perfect for the less technologically inclined.Looks good, installs easily, and has the option to combine batteries and a C wire for reliable operation that can retain settings after a power surge. Definitely recommend

    Doesn’t have Em Heat mode
Does not have “Em Heat” (emergency heat” mode. I need this feature because my heat pump froze this past January and it was 26 degrees inside my house. I couldn’t turn on Em Heat mode because my current thermostat was supposed to be a replacement for the original one that broke 3 years ago. That’s the entire reason I bought this one. It usually doesn’t get that cold this far south, but my heat pump is about 7 or 8 years old and wasn’t meant to deal with that low of a temp, and my house is over 100 years old so without heat it gets really cold quickly. I specifically bought this thermostat because I thought it had that mode.Other than that, this thermostat is absolutely fine. But this model is supposed to have Em Heat mode and it does not.

For our purpose, we wanted something simple. Programming wasn’t needed.
We had to replace an HVAC unit that heats a room that had been converted from a garage. So the heating of this room is separate from the rest of the house. At this point, the room contains our pet parrots. Programming isn’t necessary, since this room is kept at a consistent temperature, and we wanted it only for heating since our new HVAC unit doesn’t supply air conditioning. In looking for a new thermostat, I have to admit it was quite daunting as so may offered options we really didn’t need. This unit was cost effective, and the programming can be turned off if you don’t need it. Without the programming, I can easily set the target temperature for heating as needed. These things really don’t need to be complicated if you don’t need them to be.For us, this thermostat is a huge improvement over what we had. The previous thermostat had a lever that adjusted the temperature as you would a wafer heater – it was all guesswork. With this thermostat, I can set an actual temperature digitally. I’m sure some of you are laughing your butts off at how archaic our heating system was, but then there are likely others with a similar situation. Sometimes all that is needed is a reliable thermostat to set heating, and/or air conditioning, temperatures accurately. Everyone does not necessarily need programming functions. What I like about this thermostat is that it can be programmed if you have a need for it, but you can also keep it simple to just set a consistent temperature without the programming. I also like the display is large enough to see without glasses, and the preferred temperature is easy to set. The display is dimmed until you press a button – then it lights up. Sometimes lots of options are nice, but sometimes, it’s nice to be able to keep things simple.UPDATE 08/22/22:Even though we use this thermostat only for heating, I decided it might be a good idea to program it so the temperature was kept a bit lower at night than in the day. You have the option of using 4 settings, but I wanted only 2, one temperature for day and one for night. For only 2 settings, you can deactivate 2 of them. I also wanted the temperature setting to be the same every day although you do have the option of setting up different temperature settings for weekends and week days.I found the settings to be very similar to the timers I use for lighting the plants in my basement garden. So, I didn’t have a hard time at all understanding how to program this unit. Considering the current costs of energy, I am hoping programming of this unit will help us to save costs for heating this room. We are also considering getting another unit like this to control the heating and air conditioning of our house since our electric and gas costs have become so expensive.I hope this review was helpful for you, and I will update my review if my opinion changes.

Looks good, easy to learn, bright screen!
I bought his for my home. I upgraded from and older style, non-LCD-Screen thermostat! This one works great! It’s easy to learn, easy to adjust and looks nice and modern

Great product. Works well and was easy to install. A great alternative to other ‘smart’ thermostats (like Nest) that suffer from software updates and resetting often to defaults. This one is easy to use and just works great. No control system battling with the smarts that are built into my high efficiency furnace!

Has been installed for many months now and have had no issues. I don’t find it intimidating to use and that is saying something! We installed it after getting a heat pump so we could control when it would(if necessary)need to switch to the propane. Works well with our air exchange system too.
